By: Shivani Shete

Playground Active was founded in Laguna Beach, a coastal city in Orange County, California. This area is full of stunning beaches, boardwalks, art galleries, and restaurants right off of the water. There are so many ways to explore this destination while also getting a good workout in. You can plan your day around things you enjoy, and really make your itinerary personalized to you.

Here are 5 ways to stay active in Laguna Beach.

1. Hiking Trails

Apart from the beach, this city has a variety of hiking trails with breathtaking views. Some of the popular hiking spots include the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, Top of the World Park, Crystal Cove State Park, and the Valido Trail. A lot of these trails share views of the coastline, making the trip to the top so worth it.

2. Surf Spots

Surfing is a great way to move your body. Whether you’re experienced or not, it’s a fun way to get out in the water. Some beaches that are known for surfing in Laguna Beach are Agate, Oak, Thalia, and Brooks Street Beaches. Oak and Thalia are great if it is your first time picking up a board. There are lots of places within walking distance of the beach to rent all the equipment needed to have a fun time out in the waves, such as Laguna Beach Bums and Surf N Paddle, if you are a newbie to the sport, check out La Vida Laguna for lessons. Now, go grab your surfboard and test the waters!

3. By The Waves

Other than working out at a fitness center, Laguna has many outdoor activities that keep you moving. Water-related fun is a great way to spend your day, weekend, or free time in Laguna. Paddle boarding at Bluebird Beach, snorkeling at Heisler Park, or going on a kayak tour are just a few of the many things you can do. Heading over to Thousand Steps Beach will keep your heart rate up with its seemingly never ending stairs, but rewards you at the end with a beautiful ocean view and cooling breeze. Laguna Beach's Sea Caves or “The Pirate Tower” of Victoria Beach will give you an elevated stroll that is also picture-worthy and oh so memorable.

4. Walking Tours

Want to find a fun thing to do while learning about what Laguna Beach has to offer? Self-guided walking tours are your answer! You can easily take in Laguna’s beauty by adventuring to different, staple spots in the city. Choose a walk through downtown filled with tiny boutiques and remarkable architecture or get your steps in on a fitness walk on Laguna’s fields and hills.

Laguna Beach is known as an “art colony” city that has an infinite number of galleries just for you to observe. Full of history and inspiration from Laguna’s landscape, these exhibits are an excellent way to spend your time and stay on your feet. Some of the impressive art galleries in Laguna are the Artist Eye, Grace Galleries, and the Hugo Rivera Gallery which each embody the city’s warm culture.

5. Alta Laguna Park

From the immaculate open-air tennis courts, to the beautiful views, Alta Laguna Park has it all for the whole family! It has multiple tennis courts, a basketball court, baseball and soccer field, picnic tables, and a playground for the little ones. The grounds are also a hot spot for local personal trainers to hold group and private sessions. The outdoor public sports complex sits on top of Laguna Beach looking out into the canyon on one side and over the ocean on the other. This park has ample free parking and connects to Top of the World viewpoint and hiking trials. Fun Fact, we shot our summer campaign here! Check out some of the images below.

Everywhere you turn in Laguna Beach is another beautiful moment to take in. Full of vibrancy and life, this place deserves to be on your bucket list. You’ll never find yourself getting bored when you can experience something new and exciting each day. Adventure is out there, and it’s calling your name.
